Kinshasa: Around 17 people have been killed in a terror attack in DR Congo, in Africa. The attack has taken place in the Oicha city in the eastern part of DR Congo, and it is claimed that terrorist organisation ADF, an affiliate of IS, had a hand in the attack. Following Oicha, three people were killed in the bomb blast carried out by terrorists in Beni city. This becomes the fifth terrorist attack in the last month. The attack has made evident that terror organisations are gaining ground in the African continent.
On Thursday, the ADF terrorists launched two successive attacks in the Oicha city in the eastern part of DR Congo. Three people were killed in the first attack carried out in the Colococo area. Thereafter, 14 people were killed in an attack on the Mantumbi village near the city. The terrorists targeted the Beni city after the bombings in Oicha. Two terrorists riding a motorbike hurled a bomb at a crowded marketplace. Sources informed that three people were injured in the attack.
The fresh attacks take the tally of terror attacks in the last month in DR Congo to five. It has been observed that these attacks are carried out by the IS-affiliated terrorist organisation, ADF. A comprehensive campaign had been initiated in DR Congo, against this group. However, the group seems to have become more aggressive after the campaign, which is confirmed by the successive attacks carried out in DR Congo.
DR Congo is already reeling under the Ebola epidemic since the last one year and nearly 2,200 lives have been lost in the outbreak. A comprehensive campaign has been undertaken by the World Health Organisation along with the voluntary organisations, against the Ebola epidemic. But the campaign against Ebola is suffering because of the increased terrorist activities.
ADF and other local rebel organisations have been targeting the centres erected for the campaign against Ebola and the volunteers working there. Nearly 100 volunteers working for the Ebola have been killed in terror attacks, over the last one year. Therefore, the foreign organisations have started recalling their volunteers and workers, which would have severe adverse effects on the campaign.
