Beijing – China is rocked by India’s announcement to deploy BrahMos missiles at the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Chinese analysts have expressed deep concerns over this information. Besides, they also warned that the tension between the two countries is escalating further. Song Zhongping, the Chinese military expert, has warned of the ongoing tension escalating into a conflict. Zhongping also claimed that China has its defence system ready to counter the BrahMos missile.
In a petition filed in a court regarding the infrastructure development on the LAC, the Government of India has presented its position of fully supporting the decision to enhance military capabilities. The Indian government had said that BrahMos missiles would be deployed in the area for national security. Hence, the infrastructure projects at the LAC must be implemented in full swing. Moreover, China has taken this warning seriously. Furthermore, China has also warned India against the deployment of BrahMos, citing reports in the Indian media.
India and Russia have jointly developed BrahMos missiles. The BrahMos is one of the fastest missiles in the world. It is being claimed that even the most advanced radar system cannot detect BrahMos. The missile is being manufactured in India. Besides, some other countries are demanding it from India as well. The news about BrahMos has made China insecure.
China has warned that the deployment of BrahMos on the LAC does not pose a threat to China, but it is likely to increase tensions immensely on the LAC. China can destroy BrahMos, said Zhongping. He added that India’s infrastructure on the border is inferior compared to China. If this is true, then there is no reason for China to worry about the deployment of BrahMos. Yet, China’s concern on the deployment of BrahMos contradicts Zhongping’s claims.
Over the last few days, China has consistently claimed that its military capabilities and infrastructure on the LAC are far more advanced than India. China is attempting to exert psychological pressure by building a narrative through propaganda. Similar information about Chinese troops setting up villages inside Indian territory was released in international media to push a false narrative. Indian military presence is in control of the LAC from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh. China’s quick reaction to the announcement of the deployment of BrahMos on LOC is an indication of panic on the Chinese side.
