London: – British Intelligence agency MI5 has warned of Christin Lee, a Chinese spy agent, of interfering in British politics by corrupting the leaders and members of the British Parliament. MI5 has asked the British parliament to take this seriously. It is claimed that the Chinese agent has trapped Barry Gardiner and other senior leaders. China has denied the allegation.
Duncan Smith, a senior member of the British Parliament, known for his staunch anti-China stand, brought up the warning issued by the MI5 in the British Parliament on Thursday. He appealed to members of the parliament to exercise caution from the Chinese agent. He said that MI5 had apprised the information regarding the warning issued to the chairperson of the parliament.
Smith announced and appealed to all members of parliament to take note of the warning issued by MI5 about Christin Lee. Lee is acting on behalf of the Communist party of China to interfere and meddle with British politics. Christin Lee had previously worked as a legal advisor to the Chinese embassy in Britain. MI5 has accused Christin Lee of establishing contacts with multiple British leaders through various sources over the past few years. Christin’s organisation has paid 500 thousand pounds to Barry Gardiner, and eight years ago, 500 thousand pounds were paid to Ed Davey, an energy minister in the British cabinet.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has denied allegations made by MI5 and made sarcastic comments on British Intelligence officials to have been fantasising like in the case of James Bond movies. A few months back, Australia had also accused China of doing the same in their country.
