Islamabad: Following the announcement made by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to observe the Pakistan Independence Day as a Black Day, Pakistan military initiated an action against the leaders from MQM as well as the other opposition parties in the Sindh Province. It is reported that the Pakistan military is arresting people and threatening the population in an effort to bust the Black Day plan.
Pakistan Rangers and ISI officials, in 20 vehicles, raided the house of Lala Aslam Pathan, the Vice-President of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM). It is claimed that the Pakistani soldiers had come there with an intention to abduct him. But their plan failed as Pathan was not at home. However, the rangers threatened his family and neighbours. It has been accused that rangers threatened to arrest Pathan’s son.
People from the Sindh province will be observing a ‘Slavery Day’ along with the Black Day. JSSM said that the Pakistani soldiers are threatening their leaders to ensure that the effort is not successful. Hashtag trend has been started under #14augustblackday. Slogans like ‘हम नहीं मानते इस नाम निहाद आझादी को’ (We don’t believe in this so-called freedom’) are being given.
Protests will be held by Sindhi people outside the Pakistan embassies in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. The MQM will be observing the Pakistan Independence Day as a Black Day. MQM Chief Altaf Hussain said that they would be protesting against the atrocities meted out by the Pakistan military to the people of the Sindh province.
