Jerusalem – ‘Saudi Arabia has established cooperation with Iran, yet this will not affect Saudi-Israeli relations. Israel-Saudi Abraham Accord is essential, and both countries will soon sign this agreement,’ expressed the confidence of Yossi Cohen, the head of the Israeli intelligence agency ‘Mossad’. Along with this, Cohen explained the background of Saudi and Iranian cooperation. Yossi Cohen has made such an indicative statement that it has become clear that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s restraint towards the United States is over.
Earlier this year, while assuming the reins of office, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Abraham Accords would soon be signed with Saudi, like already done with UAE and Bahrain. Senior leaders of Israel will visit Saudi for this. The Israeli Prime Minister shared this information. However, relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran were established a month ago with the mediation of China. Iran has opened its embassy in Saudi, and there will be a discussion between the heads of the two countries soon; such reports are being received. This cooperation between Saudi and Iran will harm Israel’s Abraham Accords, it was claimed by Israeli analysts.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia will not join Israel’s Abraham Accords due to its cooperation with Iran. On the contrary, these analysts claimed that Arab-African countries like UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan, along with these Middle Eastern countries, are included in Israel’s agreement. Due to the wrong policy of the Biden administration, the American public representatives had expressed concern about the loss of Israel and the United States. But, the head of Israel’s intelligence organisation Mossad has expressed completely different views. Cohen, who has been pushing for the Abraham Accords, said Israel should not worry about Saudi cooperation.
While speaking at a meeting organised by the think-tank Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), Yossi Cohen expressed his belief that the Abraham Accords would normalise Israeli-Saudi relations. Israel and Saudi leadership are in the hands of courageous leaders to decide how to structure this cooperation. While establishing cooperation with Israel, the Saudis must be careful that there is no strong reaction from the Islamic world. He claimed that Saudi would cooperate with Israel only after getting its guarantee.
At the same time, the Saudi decision to establish cooperation with Iran was not an insult or a warning to Israel. Rather, the Saudis cooperated with Iran, brokered by China, to show that we have run out of patience with the US misbehaving with the Saudis and the Saudi leadership, Cohen provided.
