Tehran: – Iran has expressed annoyance over the Bahrain decision to allow the Israeli military attaché to be posted in the country. Iranian foreign ministry threatened that Bahrain would face the consequences like Irbil for this decision posing a challenge to Iranian security. Last month, Iranian Revolutionary Guards launched missile attacks on a location in Irbil, claiming a network of Israeli spies there. Iran is warning that Bahrain can face similar attacks.
The Fifth US naval fleet is deployed in Bahrain. The United States has made this deployment for the security of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East allies. The Fifth fleet is operated from the US naval office in Bahrain. A month ago, the United States decided to appoint an Israeli military attaché in this office. This announcement was made after discussions between Israel and Bahrain.
One and a half years ago, military cooperation was established between Israel and Bahrain after signing the Abraham agreement. At that time, Iran had refrained from commenting regarding the appointment of the Israeli military attaché in Bahrain. But last week, Saeed Khatibzadeh was questioned by journalists regarding the appointment. Khatibzadeh threatened Bahrain in reply to the question. Khatibzadeh warned that the Iranian retaliation could be described with a single word, ‘Irbil’. Irbil is the capital of the Iraqi province of Kurdistan. Last month the Iranian Revolutionary Guards launched missile attacks on the city of Irbil. Iran claimed that a safe house of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad was destroyed in the attack. Revolutionary Guards have also warned that the Israeli activities in the Arab-Gulf countries will not be tolerated. Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Khatibzadeh threatened Bahrain with attacks mentioning Irbil. The Jawaan daily connected with the Iranian supreme religious leader Ayatollah Khamenei and Revolutionary Guards also issued a similar warning to Bahrain.
The Iranian daily warned that Israel would be held responsible for any developments in the Middle East countries and that action would be taken then and there. Retired Israel military official and analyst Lieutenant Colonel Mitchell Siegel exposed the information regarding the Iranian threats. Siegel also expressed the possibility that Iran can use its affiliated terrorist organisations from Iraq or the Houthi rebels to launch missile attacks on Bahrain.
Iran has already threatened that the Middle East countries establishing military cooperation with Israel will have to pay a dear price for this association.
