Pakistan military prepares to oust Imran Khan

Islamabad: – Imran Khan accused that an international conspiracy was brewing to overthrow his government and Pakistan’s opposition parties also joined the plot. Levelling this accusation in the Pakistan parliament on Sunday, he even presented a letter giving evidence in support of the claim. On Wednesday, Imran Khan was to address a press conference and expose the conspiracy against him, producing this letter in front of the media. But the Pakistan judiciary and the military have stopped Imran Khan. The court warned that Imran Khan could not do such a thing citing the act of confidentiality. In contrast, the Pakistan military has demanded the resignation of Imran Khan. Therefore, signs are that the Imran Khan government will be pulled down in the next few hours.

Only last week, Pakistan army chief General Bajwa and other senior military officials had suggested to Imran Khan to resign. The military had warned that Khan should resign before the session of the Pakistan parliament. But ignoring that, Imran Khan took a conflicting stance to protect his post. On Sunday, he organised a massive rally for his party and claimed to be fighting for Pakistan. But the military has been further agitated by his actions and the opposition parties also have become more aggressive.

Imran Khan’s party does not have a majority in the Pakistan parliament and the government is dependent on the support of six smaller parties. Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Balochistan Awami Party have already withdrawn their support to the government. The Imran Khan government is now in the minority in the parliament. Some of the ministers from the government have resigned, increasing the woes further for Imran Khan. In such a situation, Imran Khan tried to win the sympathy of the Pakistan population by claiming that an international conspiracy was being hatched against him.

Imran Khan had hinted that opposition leaders and the army chief were involved in the international conspiracy. He was to make big claims at a press conference on Wednesday. But neither the Pakistani military nor the court allowed that to happen. The Pakistan Army is set to oust Imran Khan soon. It is claimed that the process will be completed in a few hours.
