Washington: – The White House showered praises on India, saying, ‘India is a country with a similar ideology as the United States and is leading the South Asian and Indian Ocean regions. The inspiring power for QUAD and the development engine for the region’s countries is India’s identity. The White House showered praises on India after concluding the QUAD meeting recently. However, the reaction of the White House secretary reported by the media exposes the United States of implementing the plan to divert the focus of QUAD, which was formed against the Chinese hegemony in the Indo-Pacific to Russia.
Karine Jean-Pierre, the deputy media secretary at the White House, shared the QUAD meeting concluded in Melbourne during a press conference. At this time, Jean-Pierre underlined the importance of India, referring to India as a like-minded country. Jean-Pierre claimed that India, which leads the countries in the South Asian and Indian Ocean sectors, is the engine for the progress and development of these countries. While showering this praise on India, Jean-Pierre clarified that the Russia-Ukraine issue was discussed in the QUAD meeting. Jean-Pierre said that the United States raised the issue of the threat posed by Russia to the regulations based global system.
Multiple issues are surfacing from this claim made by her. The Biden administration is not ready to mention the Indo-Pacific sector independently, even though Chinese hegemony in this region is the reason for the formation of QUAD. Whereas QUAD members Japan and Australia and the European countries the United Kingdom and France are repeatedly saying that India is a significant power in the Indo-Pacific sector. But the Biden administration is avoiding the mention of the Indo-Pacific sector as far as possible and therefore indicating a change in its policies. At the same time, instead of mentioning India as an ally or associate, the Biden administration points out that India is a partner country.
It is a significant development that Jean-Pierre simultaneously expressed the desire of the Biden administration to use QUAD against Russia. Biden administration has already attempted using India against Russia. The Biden administration had threatened India with sanctions unless India scrapped the S-400 purchase agreement with Russia. But India completed the deal without paying any heed to the US threats.
