Washington/Kyiv – Seymour Hersh, a leading US journalist, claims that some European countries pressure the President of Ukraine to end the conflict. Hersh has said that a group led by Poland demands that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should prepare to resign if necessary. While Hersh’s claim emerges, African countries have announced to send delegations to Russia and Ukraine, and the Presidents of both countries have clarified that this delegation will discuss.
More than 14 months have passed since the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and currently, there is no possibility of ending the conflict on the battlefield. Besides, Russia has repeatedly clarified that it has maintained the intensity of its attacks and would not withdraw unless they meet the objectives. On the other hand, Ukraine has been preparing for counter-attacks, and the ruling regime says that they will not stop the conflict until they gain control over Crimea. Against this backdrop, there has been unease in the Western countries that support Ukraine, and public opinion in some countries has also begun to turn against the conflict.
In such a situation, the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire seems to have gained momentum at various levels. China’s special envoy has arrived on a tour of European countries, including Ukraine. In addition, countries like France and Hungary have supported China’s ongoing peace process efforts. Reports of France working with China to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict have been released. A few days ago, the supreme leader of Christianity, the venerable Pope Francis, had stated that he was negotiating a peace process. Thenceforth, the President of Ukraine had even met with Pope Francis.
While these movements were underway, US journalist Hersh claimed that Poland had also begun moves to end the conflict. Hersh further said in his claim that along with Poland, the Baltic countries of Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have also appealed to Ukraine to end the conflict. Moreover, the US journalist has also blamed Ukrainian President Zelensky for taking a stubborn stance and said that because of this, he was losing the support of the West.
